Stack Emissions Monitoring

Stack Emissions Monitoring is routinely undertaken for many different reasons. Most commonly Stack Emissions Monitoring is undertaken to demonstrate compliance against limits outlined by the Atmospheric Emissions Licenses or standards specified in the National Environmental Management Air Quality Act (Act 39 of 2004) for licensed or regulated processes.

Experts In Stack Emissions Monitoring

Emissions Sampling Solutions is owned and managed by Wesley Santos and Karien Zantow. They have more than 10 years’ experience in the Environmental and Chemical process control fields and is a young dynamic team catering for the small to medium size industry. During this vast time our consultants have worked in a wide range of industry sectors and with clients of varied size and scope. Our equipment is state of the art and complies with the relevant SANS and other standards. Training and international competency declaration has been obtained in the methods and standards used to monitor stack emissions.

Particulate Matter

Isokinetic sampling techniques will be applied to measure the concentration of Particulate Matter (PM). The sampling method for the abovementioned component complies with the specifications of the following internationally accepted method, USEPA Method 5: “Determination of Particulate Matter Emissions from Stationary Sources”

ESS utilises a Tecora Isostack G4 instrument for the sampling of particulate matter.

Combustion Gas Components:

(O2, NO, NO2, NOx, CO, SO2 and H2S) NOx, CO, SO2 and H2S present in the stack gas streams on a volume/volume basis, in accordance with EN 50379-2:2004, Specification for portable electrical apparatus designed to measure combustion gas parameters of heating appliances. In addition to the emission measurements mentioned above, the following parameters must also be measured as part of isokinetic measurements, where applicable: • Gas velocity • Gas volumetric flow rate • Gas temperature as well as absolute and static pressure • Water vapour content of the stack gas The analyser utilises calibrated electro-chemical sensors to detect and quantify the concentrations of the various gases. The calibration is done routinely with SANAS certified laboratory test gas with known concentration.

Other Elements
